  1. Trout generally wont take bread although it has happened

A nice juicy worm is the best bait for trout

  2. Maybe planted/stocked Trout will if the bread will stay on the hook after bein' in the water (gets soggy and will probably fall off) ;)... < ' ( (( > <

  3. Worms, Corn

  4. when u put the bread on the hook then put in water it will just wash away, so a better bait such as earthworms or other forms of baits metal ,shinny ones which attract them should be used

  5. Ive never fished for farmed trout, only wild brownies in the lochs and rivers in Scotland. Brandling worms are prob my favourite bait, though spinning with a natural minnow can be deadly and ive had a few with maggots as well.

PS I'd be wary about using Salmon roe as bait, it's against the law here, though it is good!

  6. if they are fresh from the hatchery - just stocked they may take bread on the surface as they are used to eating almost anything - in the beginning....then they smarten up.

if you put the bread in a tight ball and mold it to your hook it may last for a while and yes our of curiosity they may bite it however...

nothing works as well as garden worms / euro worms or a small night crawler if they don't work I resort to power bait

Zekes and Berkley make their own kind of paste or dough bait nicknamed powerbait...

small hook or treble sz 14-18  >> 2 or 4# leader >> barrel swivel >> 1/8 oz or heavier egg sinker

mold the bait on the hook - you need to experiment on how long the leader should be - it varies as to how deep the fish are holding at... and COLOR is EVERYTHING  - if someone else is catching fish look at what color is working today - most of the yellow baits work good and chartruse or some of the blended ones like chartruse & white....

Wal-Mart carries alot of power bait as does...

Good luck....remember a bad day of fishing is better than a good day at work...

  7. well trout are somewhat like bass, curious. they will bite on small spinners, spoons, and anything shiny.if you are using a bubble or bobber, you could use power bait, gulp, salmon eggs marshmallows that are small, grasshoppers, crickets, crayfish, mud shrimp, corn and, and Velveeta all work great. hope this is what you are looking for and good luck fishing catch the big one!!!!

  8. If you want to catch trout use small garden worms, meal worms, minnows, salmon eggs or small inline spinners like roostertails in 1/8 - 1/4 oz. If it's rocky where you are fishing you may want to use a rebel wee crawl. It's a small rattling crankbait that imitates a crayfish and the trout love this bait. !!!Happy trouting!!!

  9. Yes they do but I have got a killer method for trout.

Get an old chicken carcass or some type of meat.

Hang it from a branch above an area where there are trout.

After a few days maggots will be on the meat and many will 'drip' into the water as they fall off.

The trout will get used to this food source and, if left for a few days, will become confident in feeding.

Bait up a hook with a couple of maggots drop it in and away you go.
