Troy Ross talks about fighting Yoan Pablo Hernandez – Boxing News
Cuban fighter Yoan Pablo Hernandez is widely known for his dominance at the cruiserweight level. He currently holds the IBF cruiserweight title and heading towards a fight against Canadian fighter Troy Ross. Pablo stands with 26 wins, 1 loss and 13 knockouts
in his portfolio, whereas Ross stands with 25 wins, 2 losses and 16 knockouts in his bag. A tough fight for sure, but Ross believes he will overcome every obstacle to win the show.
In a recent interview, Ross spoke about his past opponents and how he thinks it is possible to beat Pablo.
When asked about his last unanimous victory over Lukasz Rusiewicz, which took place earlier this year in February, Ross asserted, “: I did really well during that fight. I proved that I am a technically gifted boxer.”
Although it has been seven months to his last in-ring performance, Ross believes he is in perfect form to punish Pablo.
“Beforehand I have not been inside a ring for quite a while, so I was still a bit rusty. Nevertheless, I was the dominant boxer throughout the fight and Rusiewicz didn’t stand a chance. Now I am back to my best and as good as ever.”
Pablo has faced some of the most vicious fighters of the level such as Steve Cunningham but Ross believes he is no less. It should be noted here that got a title shot two years back, before Pablo, but he lost to Steve Cunningham, the then IBF cruiserweight
champion.
As of now, Ross is 37 and this will be his second title shot so he definitely needs to perform. Many analysts believe the Canadian might retire if he faces a loss once. When asked, Ross insisted, “It doesn’t bother me in the slightest. I am fully concentrated
on myself and don’t pay attention to anything else. I am in really good shape and therefore I don’t fear anyone.”
Furthermore, Ross asserts that he has matured since his last title fight against Steve. According to the Canadian, on September 15, he will prove his skills in the ring against Yoan Pablo.
