Troy Tulowitzki impresses as Colorado Rockies defeat New York Mets 7-6 – Part 1
Troy Tulowitzki put in a brilliant performance as he hit a home-run to bring in three runs as the Colorado Rockies beat the New York Mets 7-6 on Monday, April 11 at Citi Field in New York.
The Colorado Rockies dominated the New York Mets, who just couldn’t keep up with them. Carlos Gonzalez had three RBIs and Troy Tulowitzki hit a home run that fetched three runs for the team. The Mets bullpen wasn’t up to the mark and that played a considerable
role in the 7-6 victory of the Rockies. Colorado has won the first match in the four game series.
Tulowitzki was brilliant with not only the bat, but with his glove as he managed a tremendous throw that helped keep the tie in the seventh inning. The Rockies are playing well and they have shown their mettle against the Mets. New York did stay in the game
and only lost by one run in the end.
The Mets got an early lead in the game as David Murphy was able score off a Carlos Beltran double in the first inning. This took the score to 1-0 in favour of the Mets. In the third inning, the Rockies leveled the score as Jonathan Herrera scored from a
Tulowitzki single, taking the score to 1-all. The Mets fought back in the bottom of the third inning as Jose Reyes scored off a hit from David Wright, taking the score to 2-1 in favour of the Mets.
The Rockies clawed their way back in the fourth inning as Chris Iannetta scored off a Dexter Fowler hit bringing the score to 2-all. The Mets were still in it as Willie Harris hit a double allowing Ike Davis and Angel Pagan to score, taking the score to
4-2 for a Mets lead in the bottom of the fourth inning.
It seemed that the Mets were not to be undone, as they fought hard to stay in the game and took the Rockies head on. They played aggressively and showed tremendous fighting spirit throughout the game. Their batting strength was beginning to show, as they
put valuable runs on the board at crucial moments during the game.
Carlos Gonzalez brought things level for the Rockies as his single brought in Jason Hammel and Fowler to bring the score to 4-all in the sixth inning. The Rockies were fighting back and seemed to matching everything the Mets could throw at them on the offensive
side. Both teams played aggressively as they knew that the game was going to go down to the wire. It was basically going to come down to which team wanted it more.
