Troy Tulowitzki shines as Colorado Rockies defeat San Francisco Giants 2-1 - MLB Update
The Colorado Rockies were successful in defeating the San Francisco Giants 2-1 in the second of the three game series at AT&T Park in San Francisco, California on June 4.
The victory held special importance for the Rockies given that this was their first win out of five times at the AT&T Park, since the season began. They also brought an end to the six back-to-back one run losses they were suffering. This was the Rockies
first one run victory since they defeated the New York Mets at the Coors Field on May 9.
As for the Giants, who are the current World Series Champions, it looked like trip down memory lane back to the month of May where they were barely scoring, just like in this particular game. Cody Ross was the only player from San Francisco’s side who could
manage to put up a run single run on the scoreboard. The run came in the sixth inning when he belted out a homer that covered a distance of 388 feet.
The Rockies victory marked the end of the three game winning streaks of the Giants who are quickly making their way up in the Major League Power Rankings and are shaping up to be a strong defending team of the Championship title.
Troy Tulowitzki was the key player in the game as he performed much better than anyone else in the line-up. Hopefully the rest of the Rockies would follow his lead and pull up their socks as well. Troy’s batting currently stands at .353 after his nine previous
games where he has managed to score a double in each of his last three games. The only problem lies in the fact that he hasn’t unleashed a home-run in more than two weeks.
Tulowitzki was very pleased with his performance leading the Rockies to victory and said, "You never know when you're going to get on one of those streaks, and I’ve definitely put in the work in the batting cages. To have success on a day we win is rewarding."
Colorado’s Jhoulys Chacin sacrificed one run and four hits as he pitched well and won after suffering two defeats earlier on.
The Rockies put their runs on the board in the fifth and sixth inning. The very first run of the game came when Troy moved to third base on a grounder by Chris Nelson and then scored. The next one came when Troy singled and Eric Young Jr. scored.
The last of the three games will decide who the winner of the series is given that the Giants and Rockies both have managed to bag one win each.
