  1. .maybe it will bring things to reality.

  2. I have been hearing the same thing.  Problem is that truck drivers either can't or won't get together to make it happen.

Owner/operators are seeing the worst of it and have since Hurricane Katrina (which was the first of many excuses to raise fuel prices).  If the raising fuel costs aren't enough to turn an o/o into a bankrupt operation, than the brokers make sure that their pockets also get lined from o/o's.

This isn't the 70's and I agree that their are too many people that would jump on the chance to take advantage of a trucker strike.  Those people being the ones that will haul the loads during a strike....and those ones are the reason that a strike won't happen.  No one wants to miss out on that "good load".

Instead of waiting for another Jimmy Hoffa or another myth to help us form a trucker's strike, why can't we just do it ourselves.  I propose that all wives (or girlfriends) of truck drivers declare a week of non-stop AT HOME ONLY s*x with their truck driver.  Whatever and whenever you want it for one week.  If that isn't enough incentive for a hauling strike for a week, I just don't know what is.  And we need to enlist the help of the parking lot gals too.....they need to take care of the boys without a wife or a girlfriend to go home to.  Now what do you all think about that?  To heck with Jimmy Hoffa....us girls have something better to offer.  And no...I am not joking.  I am so sick of all this stress over fuel prices that a week of relaxation at home with my man sounds like a good idea.  Let Wal-Mart or Lowe's or whoever take care of themselves for a week.  Let the gov't figure out how they can get down on their knees and get the truckers back into their trucks.

  3. if they did then that would be a good boycott for everyone to start doing

  4. I'll buy you a golden car if there is a truck strike this year.

1 or more has been predicted each year for the last 20 years.

I am not making any plans.

  5. I am a truck driver and I have not heard of anything like that. Problem is truckers need to make money and they arent making money if the wheels are moving, so they will never strike

  6. No, it's not true of today, but truckers have plenty to be concerned about.

In our town diesel is selling for $4.29 a gallon. Sooner or later, the customers ahve to start paying for that through higher fees -- or the truck drivers will go out of business.

It's especially hard on independent drivers because their rates don't always keep up with the market. The bigger firms will start passing the cost through and they have enough money to weather the transition.

Don't kid yourself. This isn't over with. We'll start to see some easing due to the end of winter in some areas. That's because heating oil used in some areas is essentially the same as the diesel used on the road.

Look at this and the escalating cost of tolls like those planned for the NJ Turnpike and costs are going up.

And while it will bother truckers, the Fed Department of Transportation says that taxes on trucks need to be increased beyond the fuel tax because they don't pay the appropriate share of the cost of the roads they use. Not my figures, but DOT calculates that taxes need to be roughly doubled to match cost -- and that would be on top of a fuel tax that went up with the price.

Lissen chilrun, our economy has been completely mismanaged and inflation is coming to us along with recession. Get ready for it because when that happens there are winners and losers -- and it's hard not to be a loser.

  7. it would do no good for us to shut down just for one day because the fuel companies would still get money the very next day. for it to hurt them we need to shut down for more then one day and more then one time.
