  1. True:  Gravity varies slightly depending on the distance from the centre of the earth, and also the density of the substrate - the rocks underneath your feet.  Geophysicists use this fact to map out the gravity in an area, and this can help identify anomalies, which could indicate the presence of structures, and even mineral deposits. The weight of an object is a function of the mass of the object and the gravity.

  2. True;the earth's radius is less( by about 19 kms) at the poles than at the equator. So, the weight of a body increases as you go from the equator towards poles as the gravity is indirectly proportional to the square root of the radius and the weight increases with gravity.

  3. TRUE: the higher your up the less things weight the lower you are the more they weight. say you go run in florida and then you go run in Idaho you will run faster in Florida because its closer to the lower in altitude and you'll run slower in Idaho because it's higher in altitude also you well have a harder time breathing in higher altitude.

  4. I don't see what this has got to do with chemistry, but here's your answer: if you take something to the top of a mountain, it will be a little bit further away from the centre of the earth.  Will that make a difference to its weight, which is the gravitational pull of the earth on the thing?  Of course it will, so these "subtle differences" certainly exist.

Actually, they depend on the local geology as well as the height above sea level, and these variations are used in prospecting for minerals and oil.

  5. True - while mass doesn't change, weight does due to differences in gravity due to distance from center of the earth and density of material under the location.
