Things may look bad for the Yankees & it will be difficult to make up 6 games in the wild card & with 41 games to go & they still have 6 games each with Boston & Tampa Bay so until they are mathematically eliminated, they still a shot, not a great one but they still have a chance at play offs. Like Yogi said, it ain't over til it's over.

True.  The Yankees have a huge payroll, but too bad for them not enough of it is spent on pitching.  The Rays are not going to fold up and Boston isn't either.  This will be a great season for me: Steinbrenner will watch his team miss the playoffs for the first time in many years, and the Cubs will finally win a World Series!

True.  I think that the wild card comes out of the central division this year.  That would mena that they would have to take down two teams.  I don't see it happening.

I think false if they start hitting. They have the best shot at the wild card but they could win the division if everything goes wright. I think they will have the best chance if the rays drop to second so they wouldn't need to pass the red sox. I think they are doing well considering all the injuries and they arn't out of the running. so anyway short answer false.

True.  The pitching staff's lost any depth it may have had, and the offense is not good enough anymore to compensate for it.   Add to all that , the fact that they do trail Tampa by 9 and Boston by 5 1/2, and you have a scenario in which the Yankees will need BOTH teams ahead of them in the East to totally collapse, and that won't happen.

Boy would that fulfill one of my fantasies!But the truth is you never count them out until the last day of the season.They have come back from 10 games out in the past and could do it again.

My hopes are with the Red Sox but TB has played so well this year I don't see them falling out of the playoffs. They could take the division or be the wild card.
