it's been reported that McCain initially wanted to chose Joe Lieberman as his running mate (NY Times), but instead chose palin, to avoid dissent from within the republican party.

Is that what a "maverick" does?

  1. TRUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He wants to win so badly that he would do anything. He knew NOTHING about this woman before putting her on the ticket. Country first????????????? HA!

  2. False. It was the smartest move he could make! No he did just fine with who he picked. The democrats have a right to be worried!

  3. I agree.  It is a game to win the White House, not about choosing someone who is really a heartbeat away from assuming the role of the President of the United States if the President falls ill.

  4. False! John McCain once again put the good of the country ahead of his personal wants -- THAT'S integrity.

  5. false, she is as much of a maverick.

  6. Actually, he chose the best person for the job.

Wow, you Dems are really angry because she's doing so well, aren't you?

  7. So you got this from the NY Times?

So Rush knows what Obama is thinking too?

The NY times is just blowing wind.

  8. Actually I was thinking the same thing.  Maybe he should focus less on being a "Maverick" an more on being more effective than Bush.

  9. False.

He should have chosen a Washington insider with questionable ethics.. I hear there are a few of those to be found on both sides in the legislative branch.

  10. Well that is what a candidate HAS do do to stay in the race.

The Republicans with-held his funding until he caved, and then broadcast that Palin's selection had cause a flood of donations.

The looks on the die-hard's faces in the arena showed how much actual support she has.

I'm guessing that the oil companies set her up as their mortal enemy in Alaska and then forced the GOP to put her on board as McCain's Cheney.

  11. True, McCain is folding from the pressure of the right wing conservatives and he picked someone that does not share his ideolgy. This just shows you he would be a weak president and we do not need right wing christian wackos running our goverment at a time when we need some solid leadership.

  12. I think he made the choice he felt was right...
