1.t/f-burning trash as a fuel is one way to solve two problems.

2.t/f-pollution and overdevelpment have so far not overloaded our energy system.

3.t/f-some soultuions to energy problems actually cause more problems.

4.t/f-using human energy is one way to conserve natural resources.

5.t/f-energy can change between kinetic and potential energy.

6.t/f-solar power is available every day.

7.t/f-solar energy is already being used in some areas.

8.t/f-many clean energy sources are currently limited in how they can be used.

9.t/f-sunlight is the source of all common forms of energy.

  1. 1) True, but it also would create a h**l of a lot of CO2 which has a price on emissions.

    2) True, but im not sure how pollution comes into it.  Pollution will overload our systems when people start dying.  And in China they're at a critical limit for energy useage due to overdevelopment.

    3) True.  Nothing is 100% perfect

    4) True. Of course.  Prisoners would be my idea

    5) True.

    6) Depends on your location.  North/South pole have LONG periods of nights.  Otherwise elsewhere in the world the sun always shines even if clouds are in the way.

    7) True.  My calculator for example.

    8) True.  Due to the large size, high start up costs and low energy output per unit area some people see it not feasible to use certain renewable energy sources.

    9) False. Sunlight is the common form of all biological energy.   I.e. plants, animals. So fossil fuels in the long term.  Radioactive materials dont need it.  They needed some kind of high energy explosion i.e. supernova or something in the beginning but sunLIGHT is too specific..

  2. 1.  Partly true.  There are several incinerators operating now that are used to produce electricity but they are gas-fired because not all garbage will burn on its own.  The incinerator is essentially a waste disposal system that pays for itself by selling the energy that it would use anyway.

    2.  True.  As long as the market is allowed to prevail, the price mechanism will ensure that supply is ramped up to meet demand.

    3.  True.  Biofuels and wind farms are ecologically devastating.

    4.  Mostly false.  Human muscles do not produce enough power to do very much.  The only area where it's practical in a meaningful way is with personal transportation over short distances.

    5.  True.  That's what springs and rechargeable batteries do.

    6.  False.

    7.  True.

    8.  True.  Wind, hydro, geothermal and tidal power are quite practical in limited areas but are not available everywhere.

    9.  True.  Even nuclear power has its origins because the fuel was created by decaying stars.
