  1. im assuming you mean local steakhouse as in outback steakhouse, if that is true, then no that is not true.

chain restaurants bartenders actually make closer to 250-300/night.

Bartenders in just bars make anywhere between 200-800/night (varies on location (big city/college town = closer to 800))

now the major exception is vegas, when i was working hotel/casino bars as bartender i would make $1000 for the first few months, until i became head bartender then i ended up making $2-3k.  When i was working the strip casinos, i would make only 800 on average in gentlemen clubs there.

most chain restaurants now don't hire new bartenders with 1-2 years experience, or a reference from a former bartender from there. Usually new bartenders are bar backs. The only exception to this rule is flair bartender and that flair bartenders on average make more than normal bartenders

  2. It can be true. I knew a guy that worked at a bar in Vegas part-time and was making $1000 a night. He quite his cooperate job and started bartending full-time.

It really depends on the traffic. When I worked at the bar there were nights I'd take home $20 and nights I'd take home $200.

  3. I would think so... how many people you know go to an applebees to get their drink on?

  4. CAN be true...depends on the night, the occasion and of course LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION

  5. Its true. I believe bartenders are given more money.

  6. Could be true or false - it depends on the restaurant you work at - the location of the restaurant and what day of the week it is...

  7. I know someone who used to do that.  I'm sure it varies by location.  Here in NH, he used to pull in $300-$400 on Fridays and Saturdays, less (sometimes MUCH less) during the week.  Hours are generally awarded by seniority, so the senior bartenders with any sense are going to be working EVERY Friday and Saturday.  A new bartender might get to fill in on those days if someone wants it off.

  8. most likely yes. my gues is that your local stak house is allways busy. and it brobably has a farly big bar too (local places tend to have biggar bars) and with a biggar bar comes more tips
