  1. Red eyey flight.  Its a repositioning run.  Get the 777 to ATL from the west coast for a European run.

  2. Proving runs. Its a new aircraft for Delta and to fly the new long routes they need to demonstrate to the FAA they can do it safely for their ETOPS. I believe they are going for an increase from 180-207 min. to 240min. Not sure, I don't know their ops specs.

  3. To give domestic passengers the feeling of flying internationally with personal t.v.'s. It might also go faster. Also because of the large amount of people that travel from Atlanta to LAX. It is actually close to 6 hours of travel time.

  4. "Delta took delivery of its first Boeing 777-200LR in February 2008. This plane was named the "Delta Spirit" and dedicated to the employees of Delta on March 6, 2008. The 777 will fly a non-stop Atlanta to Tokyo route. It was the carrier's first delivery in over six years. Delta plans to take near term delivery of seven more 200LR aircraft for Asian routes from its Atlanta and New York hubs, particularly New York to Mumbai."

  5. For a LAX to ATL, then on to FRA or London?

  6. Might be that many passengers fly this route??
