True that ponds cannot have motors with 1.5hp?

the repairman tells me that I cant use a motor of 1.5hp that was powering my 40,000 gallon tank. is this true? I believe anything lower than a 1.5hp would not be able to sustain my pond with efficiency

  1. You're 1.5 is fine, sounds like he may try to sell you something.

    An advantage of this for him is he can make a big profit by telling you that you need a different motor, which he then buys at very low cost, but then sells it to you at very high cost.

    Don't let him s***w with what you know.
