  1. that depends on where you got the water to pour in.... if it rained into a barrel and you use a bucket of that water, then, it was free..... but if you turned  on a faucet to get the water, then your folks are paying for that water...... and yes, every flush is money down the drain.....

  2. All the water coming into your home flows through a meter, which the water company reads each month. If you get the water from another faucet located anywhere on your property, you pay for each gallon of use. The "flush" will cost you, whether you let the toilet do it mechanically, or if you do it manually. If you catch rainwater, or get it from some such "free" source, the flush is free, saving maybe a penny or so.

  3. Not directly, but the water from the fish tank had to be replaced, ( IF you are still keeping fish ) ! MOST homes pay a standard amount per month, for water usage , and are allowed X-amount of gallons. If you exceed this amount, you are charged more !

  4. Not if you get the water for free.

And, no the water out of the hose ain't free.

  5. No, it doesn't.

When "excess" water enters the bowl, it merely overflows over the trap and drains away. In one case, the tank provides the water due to the flush (which costs a few cents), and in the other case *you* provided the water instead of the tank.
