Trumpers Hugo targeting the William Hill Hotbox Bet Stakes at Sunderland as the next victory post
Sunderland will host the Grade A1 William Hill Hotbox Bet Stakes over 450 metres flat on Wednesday, 9th May. The £118 will get contested by Global Judy, Feora Jennifer, Cashen Jason, Stacey, Trumpers Hugo and We Have Noir.
The leading entry for the race is Trumpers Hugo, Black Shaw’s three-year-old black son out of b***h, Clodiagh Flight, who has been through training sessions lately and has raced just twice after those.
His seasonal debut was in the Grade A2 William Hill – The Home Of Betting Stakes on 6th January at Sunderland over 450 metres. The race was won by Lisneal Phanther who timed the distance in 27.54 seconds and was soon followed by Shatani Ali.
Trumpers Hugo finished sixth after racing for 27.98 seconds.
His first victory of the season came through the very next start that was in the Grade A3 The Williamhill.Com Stakes on 19th January at Sunderland over 450 metres.
Trumpers Hugo was entered as the 5/2 joint favourite of the race and took 27.85 seconds to settle the distance. Finishing the closest to the winner was Border Lane who timed the track distance in 27.91 seconds.
The other joint favourite, Urban Fox, ended third.
The three-year-old then became a miserable victim of a losing spell that lasted for six races. The trainer Y. Bell then thought of tuning Trumpers Hugo a bit.
He was drilled at Sunderland twice, first over 261 metres on 5th April and then through 450 metres on 12th April. The prior he managed in 15.97 seconds and then took 28.40 seconds for completing the next trip.
He instantly bagged the race that came his way right after the training session, on 21st April at Sunderland over 450 metres.
Trumpers Hugo won the Grade A3 William Hill – The Home Of Betting Stakes by clocking the track distance in 28.61 seconds.
However, the most recent try in the Grade A1 Williamhill.Com Stakes on 28th April at Sunderland over 450 metres saw him losing the momentum a bit and settling as the runner up after racing for 28.01 seconds.
Scritti Politti, was the 2/1 favourite of the race.
He has the potential and training for bouncing back into the wining form today.
