Question:

Trumpet Key inlay repair

I just purchased my son a starter trumpet via the internet. One of mother of pearl key inlays popped off after a few minutes of handling the horn. What type of glue should I use to re-attach this. The horn itself is otherwise beautiful with monel valves at a very affordable price,

  1. The inlay has no effect on the playability of the trumpet.  Go ahead and use super glue.

  2. Hello there,,,

Use what you have on hand.  If you only have Elmer's that will work fine....  just don't over do it.

  3. Hi,

You can use any glue but make sure its not too thick.

The inlays dont interfere in the trumpet's playing.

Just glue it down and let it dry.

Just make sure not to get it all over the trumpet, and please dont let it get through the little hole that gets to the valve.

    Well, good luck:)

  4. I would suggest contact cement, or super-glue.

Best of luck to your son!
