Trumpet or French Horn?

Question

You see that Im going to join the 6th grade band in my school and I wanted to know which is better trumpet or french horn... And I dont mean bout the prices but how good is it as a instrument. Cuz our Band teacher said I could play either one but i dont know which one to pick...

 Listen to Percy Faith's recording of Theme from a Summer Place - Hear the French Horn parts, which is simply beautiful.  If you're not sold on the horn - go for the trumpet, you can always double on the Flugel Horn later which is also a great instrument - smoother than the trumpet.  Good luck
