Trumpet valve placement?

Can sum1 tell me how i can tell if my valves are in the right place?

I notice there are holes in the valves, please explain how those holes are suppose to face to for each of the 3 valves?

  1. Lets combine ideas here.  There are always numbers on the valves that correspond to the location that they belong.  Number 2 is the center valve, number 1 is closest to the mouthpiece, number 3 goes in the only hole left.  Now, each valve has at least one guide that will slip into a groove within each cylinder.  Place valve number 1 gently in its 'hole', already oiled w/ a few drops of valve oil.  Slowly match up the guide with the slot by rotating the valve (holding the BUTTON ON TOP ONLY! You will notice when it has found its 'groove', that the number on the valve is facing a particular direction (usually forward). With only this one valve in blow through the horn.  Great, if you 'grooved it properly it will blow freely.  Now oil up two and three, one at a time...put their valve number facing the same direction as the first and Voila! Two in the middle, groovy.  Three toward the bell...s***w it, you're done!
