Question:

Trust Issues because of childhood?

I have had trust issues for years because of my childhood. I was raised in a family where I was exposed to a cheating father and an untrusting mother from the ages of around 5 years old until I was 12 when they divorced. I am now 32 and sucessful, but somehow still can't overcome this problem and am tired of it ruining relationships because of my lack of trust. Does anyone have any recommendations on what I should do or who I should talk to about this problem? I'm tired of dealing with this problem and am ready to do whatever it takes to overcome it.

  1. I would talk to a therapist. You can usually get a recommendation for one from your general practitioner.

  2. therapy. it sucks. but it just might work for you. hope this helps! :)

  3. Therapy is probably your best option. A good therapist can teach you how to overcome your upbringing and use cognitive behavior techniques so you don't continue to sabotage yourself. Good luck
