Trustee board issues. Resign or not?

Should I respectfully resign?

I object to the changes and practices being put into place. They're not representative of the people our organization serves. It's been an ongoing battle that a few of us have fought, but we have just lost the war on these changes. Fellow board members are taking the project in another direction. Should I stay and continue to voice concerns for those we serve, or should I leave and take my name off this organization?

  1. How long have you stayed and voiced your opinion for those you serve? If it's been a long time and your views and ideas have not even been acknowledged, then you should probably not compromise your them any longer. If you remain, it may look like to others that you are part of those you disagree with. I am effected by a Trustee Board every day, and to me it seems that they were placed there and are controlled by the man in charge who makes terrible decisions every day, and it seems that they are getting worse. I have no idea if there is a person on that board who is speaking out for the people they are supposed to be representing, or if they are just backing a man who has the type of personality that dominates all of those around him.

If the majority of your board is not on your side, it seems almost pointless to be part of something that might be damaging to your organization. If there are a good number of people who agree with you, then you should work with those members who will in turn try to pull the entire board back in the right direction.
