Truth about an Australian Aboriginal legend?

For the past few nights curlews have been coming out at night in my yard. I heard this means for Aborigines that death is about to occur. I wonder if this is true.

I live in Florida.  We get curlews in the yard all the time.  As far as I can tell it just means that you've mowed your grass recently and the exposed bugs make good eating.

I think different animals mean different things to different people. It's not all the same for everyone. Depends on what your skin group is maybe. I've only heard them talking about it a couple of times.
