Try Out Songs?

I'm 13 and an extremely high soprano for my age. My chest voice is also very warm and nice. I want a peppy, fun song for my play tryouts. Suggestions?

  1. aww

somewhere over the rainbow would sound cute.

  2. I actually have a very similar voice to what you have described! Here are some audition songs that always work very well for me when I audition:

If you want to use more of your head voice, try:

"Goodnight, My Someone" -The Music Man

    "Out Of My Dreams" -Oklahoma

"Till There Was You" -The Music Man

"Far From The Home I Love" -Fiddler On The Roof

If you want to use more of your chest voice, try:

"Ten Cents A Dance" -Simple Simon

    "Nothing" -A Chorus Line

    "Spring Fever" -State Fair

  3. Be sure the song you sing matches the show you're auditioning for- you wouldn't sing Rent at an audition for Kiss Me, Kate, for example. And thanks for giving us your age and general vocal range, that always makes it a lot easier :) Singing a song meant for a twentysomething woman wouldn't work. Here are some suggestions:

Waiting For Life- Once On This Island

Out Of My Dreams- Oklahoma! (very nice uptempo song)

Much More- The Fantasticks (overdone, but if you can pull it off, go for it!)

I Got The Sun- Annie, Get Your Gun

    One Boy- Bye Bye Birdie

break a leg in your audition!
