  1. moral decline

    breakdown of the family

    abortion

    homosexual agenda

    terrorism.

  2. Climate change

    Rich-poor divide

    Improvements to healthcare

    Crime

    Increasing political apathy amongst youth

  3. Text-speak ... the scourge of modern society.Laugh a lot.Bah!

  4. Here's a guiding star " Who will save the world"

    Revealation 17-20

    Luke 9.60

    Luke 10.24

    Luke 19.9-10

Ever wonder who were making a mess out there?

    Luke 22. 3-4

    Luke 6.39-40,41-45, 46-49

  5. For me, major issues today include

    * coping with soon retirement (I am age 63 want to work forever or so long as I am able)

    * mass export of jobs to nations that treat their people like dirt ... a dual problem ... US middle class is being destroyed & this mess has given us an opportunity to help the people of the world but the opportunity is being frittered away

    * alternative fuel and vehicle implementation replace fantasy that gasoline prices will remain affordable, and similar thinking outside the box for other commodities in a similar situation ... we are living the book "The Limits to Growth" today & frittering away our chances to exploit resources outside of our planet

    * partisan divide ... I feel like the liberals and conservatives are on the brink of what future history will call The Second American Civil War ... the hatred seems to be more severe than everything I read about the American Revolution and The War Between the States, except after those wars the hatred was worse than before the wars, so bad that Americans who were on the side of the British (the Tories) had to leave America after the Revolution and flee to Canada as refugees in fear for their lives

    * perhaps it is legitimate evolution of America, perhaps it is something else, but there used to be promise of diversity where all different kinds of people could live together in mutual peace, but some kinds of people are acting like other kinds are evil and should be excluded from our society ... such as across the straight / homo divide

    * political system, and people with ignorant views of previous generations of political systems, that blame fellow human beings for all our problems ... once it was jews, then blacks, then muslims, now immigrants, tomorrow it may be retirees ... what I want instead is meaningful work to solve the problems that are being blamed on other peoples, instead of finding a new bunch of people to blame

There have been issues that drop off my list when I don't think much can or will be done different any time soon, and others that get added as I think through the issues.

For example it is pretty obvious to me that the Terrorism is going to get a h**l of a lot worse before our governments take serious action to put an end to it, because they are applying the same kind of thinking as the War on Drugs ... assume it will never go away and just try to control it to minimal disruption, and minimal investment of effort.  Instead of thinking outside the box ... how come people try the stuff, how come they do things that will get them addicted ... solve THAT problem so no more people join the marked of ideas that we don't want anyone to be in.

For most people there is an evolution or a changing over time of what the major issues are because

    * some things that were problems get to be not so bad, perhaps because the person learns how to cope, or was in a bad situation, now no longer in it (other people probably in that situation but a hot button is when you personally are suffering)

    * some things that we were not paying attention to begin to get worse & there's no evidence we see that significant work is being done to fix it

    * the choice of what news media chooses to play up, does not exactly educate us about a problem, but perhaps ignorants us about it, and we are not aware that we now have a lot of false notions fed to us by news media ... there's also Internet sites and other interest groups that have the same effect

    * there's problems that affect old people, women, different ethnicities, religions, people of a particular age, etc. that are almost timeless because of human character frailties, and our memories of recent history, and history emphazed by those in the education and ignorance businesses

So for different people, the major issues of today are a different mixture, and if you ask the same people a few years back or forwards you will get a different mixture

    Now with respect to

"I have OCD and ADD and when my question got buried and went MIA I thought NFW and then I was like LOL OMG so TTYL"

Perhaps you should post some questions to

    Yahoo Products category

    Yahoo Answers sub-category

with respect to navigating this place so your question does not go MIA and also what are reasonable expectations when Yahoo is very busy ... sometimes I post stuff and it not show up for a while

then there is the heavy use of your acronmys that are not universally understood

  6. Healthcare

    Education

    Environment

  7. How about putting personal responsibility at the top of the list?  If you think about it, everything really flows down from personal responsibility.  If our elected leaders were truly responsible people then we wouldn't have such a huge national debt and we might actually have a voice in our government because they would listen to us.  If criminals were responsible, they would either (a) not commit a crime in the first place, or (b) would take their lumps and suffer the consequences instead of using ambulance-chasing lawyers to get them off on a technicality.  If welfare recipients were responsible, they would all do whatever they needed to do in order to get a job and support their families without the aid of the government.  If the top executives in big businesses were responsible, they would do right by their employees and stockholders instead of insisting on multi-million-dollar salaries for themselves (and bonuses, even when the company posts a loss for that quarter or year).  If parents were responsible, they would make sure their children learned what they needed to learn instead of expecting teachers, day care providers, and TV to raise their kids.  And if all Americans were responsible they would vote, they would take an active role in their communities, and they would be serious about protecting our environment.  Need I go on?
