Question:

TryN out for JV basketball. need a mile under 7 min. 3 months training time???

dont ask what i run in a mile right now. its embarrising. i dont suck at basketball or anything im nice. its just that our coach likes to push the tempo.i have a little under 3 months to train and i have a quarter mile track in my neighboorhood.

  1. Run the first 1/4 as fast as you can. Second quarter should be just barely slower. Third should be at the same pace the 2nd one. fourth quarter is all out. training should be running EVERYWHERE you go! I used to run the mile. It took a very long time to figure out the way to run it. There is a certain way to run it. Run 1 or 2 miles every night in practice. Build up your stamina.  


  2. Running a mile under 7min is pretty easy. DONT start out very fast or you're just going to burnout and skrew the whole mile unless you know what you're doing. Because its not a race, get a solid, consistent pace and try not too slow down too much. You want to take good strides and focus. Push yourself and be mentally tough. Practice running the mile as much as possible so you get used to it over time. When you're near the end, go all out and finish it.
