i am trying to ring italy but it is sayin that +39 is not a code we can use to call italy from england so how else can i call my boyfriends mobile while he is in italy :(

If he's roaming with his mobile, you just dial the same number you would dial while he's in England or anywhere else in the world.

Calling UK mobiles abroad costs the earth to the person who is receiving the call.

So best keep your call as short as possible. If he is staying any length of time, he is better of putting an Italian sim card in his phone. But the best solution is to arrange a time when he will be somewhere near a land phone. Then you can use webcalldirect (free) or telediscount (very very cheap - we're talking about 1p a minute, compared with around 50p a minute that he will have to pay for the incoming call).

If you really want to call his UK mobile, just dial the number as you would normally. You are not supposed to know that he is out of the country (at least as far as the phone network is concerned).
