Question:

Trying again after a miscarriage...?

I had an early miscarriage at 5 weeks about 3 weeks ago. I know a lot of doctors tell you to wait AT LEAST one cycle if not more, but my question is does it really matter to wait that long if I had such an early miscarriage?

If I hadn't taken an early pregnancy test I wouldn't have even known I was pregnant, because I started bleeding the day I was due for my period. I know that this has happened to many women and they have their regular cycle 4 weeks later. Do you think its ok to start trying again? And do you think my chances of getting pregnant quickly again are high? (It took us only one try to get pregnant.) Thank you for any help!

  1. Been down this road many times. Here's what I've found out:

    1. Even though it seems like such a small thing, since you lost it so early, there was a bit of work going on behind the scene. Be kind to your body and give it a chance to recupe. Not only by giving it a break, but by eating right and taking vitamins, etc to get back on top. You may not *feel* anything too drastic, but it'll accumulate over time.

    2. Even if you don't want to be kind to your body, be kind to the next baby. Let your body heal and recupe so the next baby has a better chance, even if the other baby wasn't there long.

    3. Give some serious personal reflection why you can't wait at least a few months. Speaking from experience, most women's first response is to "try again"; it's an emotional experience, a gap that you will automatically want to fill but that's not the way to handle it. Give your mind some time to recupe. Even if you feel ok right now; what about if the next one doesn't go according to plan. Just be kind to your next child, your body and your mental well being before jumping the gun.

In short, give it at least a couple of months.

    Best wishes

  2. honey don't risk loosing anothr baby. do what the doctor says and wait until your body is ready again.

  3. no, you should definetly wait! if you  try to soon, and do become pregnant, the chance is higher to have another miscarriage, and i am sure you don't want that right? I was told to wait at least 6 weeks, but i waited a little longer then that, and became pregnant and had a healthy baby. So don't rush it, and listen to the doctor, good luck!!!
