I'm going to be trying out for volleyball next year :) I'm going into 9th, and I've never gone out for a competitive sport before.

Any workouts/practice techniques you guys could recommend? I'm doing a volleyball camp for a few days next month. :)

thanks

  1. the 2 most important thing to know is how to serve and how to bump  if u miss the serves u just loss a point right away and bumping is the #1 thing that helps to win because when u r in the back they come fast  u would want to put it up to the setter for them to sett to the hitter to hit

  2. you would probably be able to make the freshmen team if you

    a) have a good overhead serve

    b) have a good bump

    c) have a good hit

    d) are tall and/or can jump high

camp is a great idea, pracctice hitting a mini vball against a wall everyday. it really helps

  3. the volleyball camp will help a LOT im doing a week of it for 3 hours each morning, ive been going for 2 days and im sore but i have gotten much better, try throwing the ball against the side of your house and hitting it every time it comes back to you, it heps with controll and with hustling to get where you need to be.

  4. i also am trying out for jr. high volleyball. practice your setting and spikes. and most important your serves! don't be nervous

  5. work on handleing it...

and also set, spike, and serve!!!!!

hope you make it....=] good luck

    also exercising helps a LOT!!

  6. Take in all you can from the volleyball camp. Work on you agility by doing drills like suicides. Jumprope with ankle weights is a killer but believe it is the best thing to do for jumping. Even without the jumprope just walking around the hosue with them and doing other workouts helps. Ummm the volleyball camp should teach you the basics will be good.
