Trying to Play a Dvd on TV not working HELP?

ok so im trying to play a dvd and my TV and it won't work im getting really frustrated i have 3 remotes ( dvd, tv remote, and rogers remote / cable remote) on the dvd screen its showing that its in play mode but its not showin up on my tv screen anyone know what to do :(
