Trying to choose between two Canon cameras...help...?

I'm trying to pick between the SD950 and the SD890. They're both the same price but the SD950 has 12.4 megapixels with 3.7x optical zoom, and the SD890 has 10.3 megapixels with 5x optical zoom. I can't decide whether it's better to have greater zoom or greater resolution...

Any opinions?

  1. Canon are c**p

  2. Get the SD950.  1.3x zoom is not that much to lose but the resolution gain will be greater (more freedom to crop in etc.)

  3. I'd choose the one with more zoom.  Technically, unless you're going to be making a lot of poster sized prints, 7 megapixels is adequate, so a 10.3 megapixel camera is more than sufficient.  In the long run, I guess it's whatever your preferences are, and how you're going to use the camera.

  4. I would go for the SD950 because if you think about it how many  times are you going to zoom in on something like 5x.

  5. What do you need from a camera? Do you want to have the nice pics or just want to shoot something far away from you? Then you get the answere. Just buy something for your purpose. Choose the one with high resolution. Triphanvan@yahoo.com

  6. i think the greater resolution would be better so u can hav e great quality  pics

u can always edit them on the pc, i have taken some great shots. i went to arizonas bontanical gardens and i got a shot of humming birds i had no idea if i got them in the pic they are so small. but when i got home and plugged into the pc there they were very vissible! as long as u dont want it to be too much bigger like as a wallpaper (the bigger u make it, it loses pixels/ressolution) will look fuzzy i have a cam corder, well its a minicam it takes stills as well as video its great. its a panasonic i love it
