  1. You are confusing me…what do you mean…”17 days from the 15th of next month is Sunday the 27th of this month?!?” Did you mean that you counted the days backwards from the date you think you will have your next period, and you counted 17 days and ended up on July 27, which was yesterday?

I’m confused because July has 31 days in it, so 17 days backward from August 15th would end up on July 29, not July 27.

So if you had s*x on the 23rd and the young and healthy Mister sperm can wait in there for five days, he could only wait until the 28th…so when Madam egg finally shows up…on the 29th!!! Mister sperm is not there anymore.

I don’t know where you got that method of counting backward from your next period. Wouldn’t it be easier to count forward from the first day of your last period, which would be a sure date, not a hypothetical one?

The average woman has about 13 periods a year, every four weeks or so. Each cycle lasts about 28 days and ovulation is on the 14th day. You’re not average. Your cycle seems to last 30/32 days. Maybe you have only 12 periods a year, lucky you.

So let’s say that instead of ovulating on the 14th day, you would ovulate on the 15th or 16th day of your slightly longer cycle…then if you had your period on July the 15th, then your ovulation should be around the 30th or the 31st of July (what! Said Mister sperm…no way I could wait a whole week from the 23rd!).

My advice is for you to wait for your next period and count 15 days from the first day of your period to estimate your next ovulation date. Let’s say, as an example, that your next period would actually be on August the 15th, then you would estimate your ovulation date on the 30th.

From there, you should have s*x two or three days before that (just in case you ovulate earlier for whatever reason), like on Thursday the 28th, then a couple of days later, have s*x again, just to make sure. If you really want to get pregnant, have s*x every day for a week. That is how my best friend got pregnant, after trying for two years, once I pinpointed to her the dates she should have s*x (don’t have s*x the rest of the month).

Also be aware that your cycle could change and get even longer if you move, change job, take a plane….so instead of ovulation on the 15th day, you would ovulate on the 20th for example. This is where those 5 days old sperm come in handy! This actually happened to me. I quit my job, took a plane, moved to another continent and got pregnant right away, when I was not supposed to (my ovulation date was supposed to be on the 11th butI had s*x and got pregnant on the 18th, because I was late ovulating, and my son was born 9 months later on the 18th). Then I got into trouble because my official “conception date” was one week earlier, so my boyfriend thought I got pregnant before I took a plane to be with him! Luckily, my son looks exactly like him!

Plus the doctors bothered me about inducing labor and I told them...not before the 18th. I had a 9am appointment that day but my son was born naturally at 10am!
