Trying to connect 2 PCs via cross cable connection. Can ping each other but no net access on 2nd PC. Help! :P?

Been trying for ages to share Internet access between 2 PCs via cross cable connection. Both PCs can ping each other but 2nd PC can't access the Internet. IP conflict? ICS problem? Help please~

  1. Yeah you may share files each other but not use net on the same time you have to use a utility software "WinGate to do this... hope it is help ful for you ...

You don't have anything to "route" the traffic from the 2nd PC to the Internet.  I'm assuming you are assigning it a private IP address (i.e. 192.168.x.x).  As long as you're staying in the subnet, you can ping any machine and they ping you.  However once you go outside of the subnet (basically going outside your 2 computer network) the packets don't know how to be routed and they just die.  You can use WinGate as someone else suggested which essentially turns PC 1 into a router.  However with the prices for routers being under $40, I would just get a physical router and connect both machines to it.
