  1. You need to run it thru your career counselor and your chain to get signed off.

What rating are you currently in?

  2. In my opinion either rating you choose will give you an idea about civilian employment, but you'd also have to go through the civilian training for both jobs on the outside, either the police academy or paralegal school.

You have no choice but to go through your Chain of Command, including the CCC. The CCC will have to submit a 1306 and conversion package to NPC for initial approval then a command screening will need to be completed and signed off by the CO.

I know some CCC's seem to not be much help, so my advice is to read the link below, then read the appropriate articles in the MILPERSMAN to make sure you're even eligible to convert. If you have a Division/Dept CC, he/she should be involved in the process. Nothing will irritate a CCC more than a Sailor coming to them for help for something they can do on their own or the Division/Dept CC should be doing. Not all CCC's are like that, but if you're at a large command they're probably swamped with paperwork, thus the need for Division/Dept CC's who actually perform their collateral duty. If you need any help just e-mail me.

BTW, if you're an E-5 eligible for E-6, you may want to to consider NC also.

  3. I'm a reservest who just converted to LN it might be a little different in AD but you still need to get checked off by the CCC Pers requires it.

You also need to check to see if you qualify.  See JAG INSTRUCTION 1440.1C  Google it.

Additionally if you really want to convert I would take care of all the requirements in the Jag instrucition below and then talk to a LN Chief so they know your serious.  Same with the CCC.  Either way conversion requires both so you might as well as just accept the fact that your going to have to deal with the CCC

  4. have you submitted your PTS paperwork( of you are a first termer)?    gotta go through your CCC/NCC to start the process.

  5. Im an MASN, Ive been in the navy for about a year and a half, MA's hardly ever do patrols like real police. Thats wut they have DoD cops for, all we really do is stand gate and vehicles inspection stations I would rather be on a ship than be on shore. Dont go to MA go to AirCrew or Special Warfare, If you have any questions about A School or being an MA shoot me an E-mail
