  1. I don't know if you are a man or woman, but

here's something to think about.  What a woman finds romantic and erotic is a lot different than what a man finds romantic.

You really need to do some research on what your honey really likes.

If you go putting pink ruffles and lots of lace and geegaws around the room, you will probably turn off many a man, even if you

    are a temptress.

  2. Umm, this is out of the blue here, but go "Romeo and Juliet" style. Old fashion love stories are ALWAYS the most romantic! -Teenweeklypick01

  3. Men like dramatic colors like deep chinese reds and silky black fabrics but find shades of pink and floral prints too girly and feminine.

The bedroom design you mentioned with the varying shades of brown sounds very sophisticated and a good start for a romantic space.  Layer soft fabrics, use muted lighting and I would say that would be a winner!

Here's an article about how to keep romance in relationships, but it also has some good ideas on how to design a romantic bedroom:

  4. It's all about the mood you are going for. Is romantic to you warm and inviting(red, orange), or light and airy(whites, pinks, blues)? It sounds to me like you may like some of the warmer colors, so I'd go with reds, browns, golds. Keep in mind you can have the white duvet as a neutral starting point and then use the warmer colors for the paint, curtains, pillows, throws. The key to an inviting room is the lighting. Get some lamps that cast soft glows and create a warm atmosphere(If the general light in the room is too bright/glaring, don't use it and just use the lamps!) Candles are also important.  If you don't have a fireplace you can even add an electric fireplace just for the aesthetics. It can actually look quite nice in a dimly lit room.
