I've eaten this item several times. I find it over in the dessert section of the buffet. Its white on the outside and covered with some kind of seeds, and on the inside is some kind of sweet, brown stuff. I have no idea what is is because I've never seen it labeled. I just know that its good. :P

  3. Those are Sesame Balls, also known as Jin Dui.  They are usually filled with a sweetened (red or black) bean paste or lotus paste.

    Very popular for dim sum.

Check out this website for picts:

  4. Ohhhhhhhhh those are sooo good..!

    They are sweet!

  5. It could be a "Chinese Doughnut" but that is fried.  It has sesame seeds on the outside.  If you bit into it, it is white had has a sweet bean filling.

The filling you describe is most likely a sweet bean filling.  The seeds are probably sesame seeds.  I am just not sure if what you describe is fried or not.  The inside is white, but the outside is golden from being fried.

Mike V is right.  They are Sesame Balls.

  6. they're called sesame balls.  the seeds are sesame seeds and inside the shell is a yellow ball made of mung beans.  it tastes the best when it's warm and crispy!

for freshness, any dim sum restaurants will have them.  if you just crave them, just go to a local Ranch 99 market or a vietnamese grocery store.

  7. Oh yeah I like this too, they have it at the  Asian market it's like a pastry, best to get it in the morning less greasy, oh yeah the little ball inside is "mung bean". MMMMM I want 1 now.
