OK. I am in the process of filling out a FAFSA application and can't figure out what I need to put in on whether I'm married or single... I have been separated since December of 2007 and got a temporary divorce order on May 15, 2008. But do I still have to put married since it wasn't the final divorce order????

  1. na. your single. lol

  2. Forget about college!

All college will teach you is about a subject......

College won't teach you anything about how to make money!

    Don't ever forget that!

  3. for all intents and purposes yo can deem yourself single.

  4. Just put either. You can put down whatever you want really. My parents had joint custody when I filled out FAFSA but I only put my mom on the form because she makes a lot less money than my dad and so I got more federal aid. So do whatever gets you the most money. Let me know if you have any followup questions

  5. You are divorced.

  6. If the temporary divorce order is still in effect, then list yourself as divorced.

  7. how did you file your income tax?

    that's the key

  8. Contact FAFSA and ask them because I am not sure but I think that you have to file as married since the divorce is not final.

  9. You have to put whatever you are as of today. If you are legally separated today, then you put separated and ONLY use your income on the form.

  10. take your application to your local or community college or just call and explain the situation and ask the financial aid adviser.

Do not give up on your education!!

I would probably put divorced, but I am no professional about that so you probably should talk to one!!
