  1. you cant decide by make model or price.... you need one that you can fit in your car snug and tight.... if the seat wobbles just a lil from side to side... DONT BUY IT.... let them help you take the car seat out to your car to try it out... they cant refuse...

this is your childs life.... and you need a snug tight fit... make sure your child fits in there and if there is a side impact what will be there to protect him/her.

but try getting the car seats out of the store to try on your car..... they all fit differently and remember to pull your seat bealt all the way out untill you hear it click and roll it back in with the clicking sound that way you know the seat is locked properly...

Hope you find a good seat that  fits your car.

  2. an expensive car seat does nothing for you if the seat is not installed properly.

when my wife and i had our first we went to the police dept. and they showed us how to correctly install it.

the officer said that 98% of car seats are installed incorrectly.

    please do so.

good luck, and congrats on the new one

  3. My sister uses the britax boulevard and she loves it. She said when she drives her daughter around, she really feels that her daughter is safe because of the body flaps on either side and how many places it hooks into the car. She loves it and is planning on buying one for her other daughter. She said it blows any of her friends carseats away :)

  4. Recaro are the best in the business.

  5. You're going to get an equal amount of answers for both, but Britax has a good reputation.

  6. Recar Signo no doubt

  7. Try these sites and compare them.........................

  8. Since they both rearface to 35lbs, and forward face to almost the same amount (Blvd to 65lbs and Signo to 70) I think I would try to find a place that carries both and try them out and see which gets a better in stall in my car.

  9. If it were me - I'd go with a Britax, though not necessarily the Boulevard. If its an older baby, definitely take him to the store to try out the Boulevard (BLVD) first. It is a great seat, but the TSIP (true side impact protection) wings are large, and some kids absolutely hate them. Some kids don't care, though. Also, while having a harness that you don't ever have to rethread is great, with the BLVD you actually lose a little bit of the harness height, meaning the child will outgrow it a little sooner, b/c the harness doesn't go up as high as the Marathon and Decathalon. So try before you buy. The Marathon, Decathalon, and BLVD all have the same exact shell, its only features that are different.

The reason I woudln't get a Signo is b/c of some things that happened when they first came out. See links for more specifics than I'll list. Both the Signo and Como came out last year, same shell, just different features, and they were touted as having built-in lockoffs, like Britax convertibles do. Well, once people ordered them and got them home, they all discovered the lockoffs didn't hold the seatbelt tight the way they were supposed to. After spending almost $300 on a car seat expected to have a lockoff, they were having to use a locking clip! And then, Recaro did some serious backpedaling and announced that they never intended them to actually lockoff the seatbelt, but as a shoulder belt guide. Er....right, that's why its called a 'lockoff'?  And Recaro offered everyone a 'free locking clip. I find that awful customer service, and misrepresenting their product, as well as wondering did they never test the lockoffs before sending them out? Another reason - I like convertibles that sit on a base, most do, but the Recaros sit freakishly high on the base, so even in some SUVs kids heads are touching the ceiling.

Good choices, basically, though, from safety point of view. Whichever you choose, make sure you keep child rear facing AS LONG AS POSSIBLE! Experts recommend rear facing to the max of the rear facing convertible seat, or at least 2 years.
