Trying to find a previous Editor and Chief of Edinburgh Evening News...?

Great Great ((great)) Grandfather was an editor and chief and im trying to find him, to see his history. but the site online does not allow you to see that.

Can someone help me find him?

  1. His title may have been Editor IN Chief.

    We could help you find him if you'd give us a name, approximate birth year, spouse's name, approximate marriage year, approximate death year.

    Chances are you'll have to go to a library (or write to one) and dig up a copy of "Prominent Men of Edinburgh" or "Who's Who in Scotland" or something similar, from the time period, to find out anything about him beyond BMD facts. His obituary would tell you a little, but, again, you would probably have to read it on microfilm in a library, not on-line.

    Speaking of which, some large university libraries in the USA have microfilm copies of the Times of London. (UC Berkeley does.) They will let non-students look at them on campus for free. (Again, UC Berkeley does.) If you are in Edinburgh, you have it made in the shade. If not, you might try the largest university near you.
