  1. Gosh that sounds spooky !

I'm pretty sure there are no free records online....

  2. Some libraries still have the old street directories of towns/cities in the county.

Usually, the streets were listed alphabetically, with the residents listed under the house number, which will be listed chronologically.

The county office of deeds or the local historical society may have an old abstract deed of the property.

If the house is considered to be of historical value, the local historical society may have the info you need.

Perhaps a neighbor who has lived in the neighborhood the longest can help you.

    P.S.

"Haunted " houses are not always due to a death in the house.

The "ghost"/apparition may be connected to the people who lived/live in the house.

It could be someone who visited the house and has fond memories of the family who once lived there.

It could be someone who has a connection to your uncle or his wife and/or his children.

Perhaps the connection is not to the present house, but a house that once stood on the same lot.

How is the young girls dressed? This could give a clue to the period of time in which she lived.

Is she dressed for seasonal weather; summer, winter, spring or fall?

Does her clothing appear to be fancy or everyday wear.

Which age group is she; toddler, pre-teen, teen, young woman?

What type of games do the children seem to be playing; indoor or outdoor?

After my husbands grandmother died, her daughter gave me Gramms bedframe, matress and foundation. The frame is  very old, as she and her older sister had slept on it until they were grown. Her parents gave it to her as a wedding gift, in 1920.

I stored it in my basement for 3 months, because I didn't have a place to set it up.

From time to time, during those 3 months, I could smell  Grams dusting powder, but not just when I was in my house. Sometimes, it happened when I was at work, alone in my car (2 counties away), at my sisters home (in another state), next door in my neighbors yard or in the grocery store.

Then, one Sunday morning, while I was perusing the sales papers on my back porch, it happened again.

Four hours later, my husband came into the basement and asked me what I was doing. When he spoke to me, it was as if I had awakened from a dream, to find myself standing in a bedroom that hadn't existed 4 hours previously. That room had been used for storage, as we do not have an attic, due to a vaulted ceiling.

I do not remember leaving the porch, crossing the living room, going down 2 flights of stairs and entering the basement, much less empyting that room and putting Gramms bed in it.

This happened in 1999, (my husbands grandmother was 99 years old when she died).

For 3 years, I did not smell the dusting powder, until my granddaughter came to live with us, in 2002.

Then it started again and continued for about 3 months. And I wasn't alone; my granddaughter smelled it too. When she finally told us about it, my husband (without even asking if I wanted him to), moved the daybed to the basement and Gramms bed upstairs, for my granddaughter to sleep on.

We have not smelled her dusting powder since, which is a great relief to my husband; he never did smell it. He said he hopes Gramms is finally settled in, because it was beginning to be creepy.

Even though Gramms never lived in our house, she visited often, staying for a week at a time. She loved sitting on the back porch, looking at the lake she swam and fished in as a child. Her childhood home is 2 lots from our house and can be easily seen from the side window in my granddaughters bedroom.

She gave us the land our house is built on and she paid for our basement, as part of my husbands share of her estate.

Gramms father bought the land in 1870.

Perhaps, she didn't want her bed stacked in a corner.

Perhaps, she wanted that room to be used as a bedroom.

    (It is still a bedroom.)

Perhaps, she was afraid she would be forgotten.

Perhaps, it was my imagination, because I loved her and missed her so very much.

Perhaps, she wanted our granddaughter to have her bed.

    I don't know.

    I just know it happened.

And, I don't care if people don't believe me

Due to Y!A "taking a breather/coffee break", I have attempted to post this 6 different times.

  3. "Publice" records can be found at your "Publice Librarye" and on the "Internete" and at your "Countye Courte Housee."
