  1. Couple ideas:

Try googling "eagle wings" or "falcon wings" or "raven wings" (pick a bird that's close to the look you want). You are probably better off looking at tats of actual bird wings, because those will be more realistic (you're probably getting a lot of stylized wings in your searches; searching an actual animal will help with that).

Alternately, you could just look at tat art of the entire bird in flight (you'll get a lot of eagles, falcons, hawks, owls, etc.) and then just cutting out the wing and having your artist tweak it until it looks right.

  2. When I had a tattoo i wanted, I had a rough Idea but really needed some help with it. I had a folder on my computer of all the tattoo pictures I had liked and saved. I  brought it in and basically said "this is my style" and went through each one (around 100) and said, ok, now I really like this idea, but If that was spread out a little more, or "i like this element, but I would want it to have a more textured appearance" and "i really liked the effect the artist was going for here", then I also had a list of elements I wanted included. Then have them draw up a sketch, and if its not right, tell them how you want it better, like, I want the feathers to look more fluffy, or I want the colors to be more like a (insert bird here)... After a couple tries, they'll get it right. If you feel like after 2 or 3 times its still really off, go to another artist.

Also, if you're thinking about size, I think about 5 inches high would look right. Many people go way too small, especially if its one of their first tattoos, so you're better to go a little larger.

Are you determined to have them on your back? I was just wondering because its really overdone and i've seen some really cool alternatives, like ankles or hips or behind the ears, or even thighs or sides of the knees. Just a suggestion :P.

Tattoo artists constantly deal with people that just go in and say "i want a tattoo, but I don't really know what.. And I don't really know where..' and they throw some ideas around until they find something right.

I'd just go into the tattoo shop with a few pictures you like.. maybe one with the right shape, one with the right look to it, one with the right colors, etc, and tell the artist what you like about each one and they will come up with an idea for you....

    Good luck!

  3. go to the place you are getting the tattoo and get the artist to draw you up something, tell him or her exactly what you want

  4. i want wings on my back to, however i want them bigger... and i kept fingind smaller ones!! lol

i was typing in "angel wings" or sometimes "wings" in the yahoo search bar and also on google.com. if i remember correctly there were more options on google when i typed in "angel wings"

try to look there! best of luck!

**here are the ones i found for me, i want them somewhat similar to this: maybe you'll like them too and you can tell the tattoo artist to make them smaller for you.

  5. Hi there.

You're best bet for wings, depending on the style, would be either:

For fantasy style wings: Check out some artwork of dragons online, and any other mythical creatures. Most artists who work these types of images have a very distinct style, that is usually realistic.

For angelic wings: Look for some older, religious artwork. You'll find lots of artwork of fallen angels, deities, etc. These are almost always softer, with exception for any artwork depicting evil.

Depends on what style you want really. Callback to a previous answer that i agree with: Discuss it with you're tattooist, and dont make a decision until you are completely satisfied.
