In the 1940's there was an aircraft (possibly British military) named 'Doris of York' which was shown in The Yorkshire Evening Press at that time. I have tried the public library microfiche for information without any luck. I thought it was only the US military aircrafts that carried the name of a loved one. The Husband of Doris as far as I know was never a pilot but was in the RAF.

Does anyone know how I can trace information on this aircraft and the photograph that went with it. I'm afraid I cannot pinpoint the exact year therefore, a lot of microfiche information has been waded through over many weekends and still no luck.

  2. Have you tried the RAF Museum?

They carry extensive archives and have a web site.

  3. You could write to the museum at Hendon. I am sure they are dedicated enough to give it a go.
