Trying to find out if my birthplace is still standing?

I'm visiting Germany soon, and have just discovered that I was born there. The paperwork says 'Butjadinger Str 226, Oldenburg, Germany' (I think), and I wonder if anyone knows if this is a hospital? Any help much appreciated. Thank you.

  1. If you were older than 50 then most likely you were not born in a hospital but at home. On the picture it looks like that, too. And from your first name I would guess that you are about that age.

  2. go to www.mapquest.de and put in the address....

  3. I would recommend contacting the area's tourism office.  if I remember right German for hospital is Krankenhaus.  I butchered it completely but it is a starting spot.

  4. Hey Karin,

    goto google maps

and in the searchfield write: Oldenburg Butjadinger Str 226

then press satellite. You will get a picture of your birthplace. It looks like a farm where they raise chicken.

    Greetings from Hamburg, Germany
