I have had continuous bleeding with both the Nuva Ring and Yaz. In an article I read it says that it's usually caused by too little estrogen. A few higher estrogen pills named were Ovcon 35 and Ortho-Novum 1/35. Has anyone taken these? Or can anyone recommend another higher estrogen pill?

  1. I would not  take the depo shot.  I had a rare reaction to it to where I was extremely dry down there and was unable to have s*x.  The depo shot can only be used for a max of 2 years because it causes bone loss.  It can also cause weight gain.  There are IUD's.  One called Mirena which has a very low dose of something similar to progesterone in it, and there is the Copper IUD which has no hormones, but has copper in it.  The only thing with an IUD is that you have to have had at least one child to have it put it, to be able to get it to fit properly.  The only drawback to the copper IUD that I noticed is that it can cause heavier bleeding than you normally would have.  Also, it seems that the Copper one (Paraguard) is *slightly* less effective than they Mirena.  I am not a fan of BC pills, as I have been taking them for years and trying to get away from them.  As soon as I have my baby I will get the IUD.  I will probably go for the copper IUD and see how that goes.  My sister had the Mirena and had gotten Bacterial infections so frequently and she did not get proper care because she did not have insurance, that she could have gotten PID (pelvic inflammatory disease).  However, if you notice that you are having problems with the IUD, ie: frequent infections, then you just go get it taken out.  The good thing about the copper is that it can be worn up to 12 years and the mirena can be worn up to 5 years.  If you decide you want to get pregnant, all you have to do is have it removed and you can get pregnant immediately.

If you have never had a baby, your only good (effective) options are, birth control pills, depo, nuva ring, the patch, or Implanon (progestin only implanted into your arm).  The cervical cap, the sponge, & spermicides are not highly effective in preventing pregnancy.  So basically, all that is left after all of those are condoms and sterilization.

If you choose BC pills, some birth control pills that would be food for break through bleeding are: Yasmin, Demulen 1/50, Zovia 1/50E, Ovcon 50, Desogen, Ortho-Cept, Estrostep Fe, Loestrin 1/20.  Also, one thing to consider when using a borth contrail method is that yo uneed to give it 2-3 months to let your body adjust to it,and if you are still having the same problems, then switch.

That is just my two cents.
