Question:

Trying to get audio from TV to Receiver (PS3 involved)?

I have a Sony KDS-60A2000 and a Yamaha HTR-6030 receiver, with a PS3 plugged directly into the TV via HDMI. Trouble is, the only audio I'm getting is the bare-bones TV audio. I want to get this system going, and enable myself to get some decent audio provided by the BD format. I want my audio to come (preferably only) through the Yamaha. How do I go about setting this up?

  1. Connect an optical cable from the PS3 to the receiver and then change the output to optical in the PS3 setup menu.

  2. plug the red and white rca audio outputs on the ps3 to the aux inputs in the back of the yamaha, to get your tv audio to go through the yamaha, simply connect the audio output on the tv to the input on the yamaha, if you have a cable reciever with a digital output on the back, connect that to the digital (coaxial or optical) input on the yamaha instead of the output on the tv

  3. You connect optical cable from PS3 to receiver to get surround sound. If you want to get some new HD audio formats from BD movies you need a compatible receiver such as Yamaha 663 ( around $500 ).You have to buy a HDMI 1.3a to get audio and video by connecting from PS3 to new compatible receiver ( Yamaha 663 ) and another HDMI from receiver to TV.Don't forget to set optical audio out on PS3 audio settings for now.
