  1. well if your really serious about it...it shouldn't be as hard...eat the side dishes ... or cook your own food...and look their are religions that don't allow people to eat certain meats...u can think of it in that sense... you can't eat meat.... because of your belief....which is the reason ur not eating meat! Plus.... what helped me was ... i told myself that i will only eat meat once a week...and slowly it when from once a week ...to never eating meat! take it easy...and be real with ur self...are u ready for this sacrifice?

  2. Humans are omnivores-we supposed to eat meat and produce. I tried to eat only veggies and fruit for almost 3 years and it almost made me really sick. And I kept dreaming about eating chicken, which was my body telling me I needed the protein.

If I'm eating in a regular restaurant and eating "vegetarian" I am always let down because the variety and way the food is cooked isn't very good.

My family LOVES Asian foods, especially Korean. Korea is a country that has learned how to use many types of meat and produce very well. I made a joke to a Korean friend that they eat *everything* and he laughed, but said as a country they had to learn how or starve. Honestly, I could eat Korean the rest of my life if I had only one choice of food. We feel SO good after eating it. Korean jigae(stew) is a comfort food to us.

Check this site out for some Korean recipes:

You'll see they still use meats, but it's the way they use them that makes the difference.

  3. Same problem here,I'd be so happy if I had the will power to give it up. However I bought a vegetarian magazine, and am now researching ways to incorporate more veggies, and beans/lentils to substitute meat, instead of cutting it out,and I'm just eating more veggies.

  4. Make sure you eat the foods that you like!

While meat replacements can help you replace meat in recipes, they may not be to your taste (initially at least I'm sure).

HOWEVER you can make many spicy Mexican/Texan style dishes with beans, alot of different Indian curries, and mighty tasty wraps with Lebanese bread and all sorts of fancy fillings.

I'm still finding it hard, but if you vary your diet and eat stuff that you really do like, being vegetarian is definitely achievable for anyone.

And please keep trying, ok! You can be proud of every meal you don't eat meat, so just do it one meal at a time :)

  5. before becoming a Vegetarian you have to see why do you want to stop eating meat

you can just stop eating meat for the fun of it.you need to eat meat because it has a lot of proteins .i agree with everything about the Koreans you either learn how to eat or starve

  6. As others have pointed out, you have to look into your motivation for not wanting to eat meat.

There are lots of analogues out there--veggie burgers, veggie dogs, veggie crumbles, veggie deli slices--along with tofu, tempeh, and seitan to make the transition easier.

Check out www.vegweb.com for recipes.  www.happycow.net lists restaurants and natural foods stores all over the world, and it also has mini egroups where you can find a group to suit your interests.

You're certainly not alone--most vegetarians grew up as meat eaters, and all of us had to kick the habit.

  7. Start out slow such as eat meat two times per week, and then one time per week, and then none.  By the way beans and rice will keep you feeling full and not wanting meat.

There are many good veggie recipes on the internet.  Here is one link, recipes are on the right hand side:

  8. i had the same problem about a week ago

this is what you can do:

watch the peta videos for moyivation. everytime you want meat, think about that. it really works

if you're still having trouble, start out with eating vegetarian for 3 days out of the week for two weeks, then 5 days then 7.

    try [http://tryveg.org] [http://peta.org] [http://goveg.org]

they have free vegetarian starter guides and recipes, it worked for me

    good luck :]

  9. Well, review your reasons for wanting to become a vegetarian. If you think about why you don't want to eat meat when you're faced with the choice of a meat or meatless meal, just remember them. It should help.

The suggestion to cut down slowly is also a good one. You can cut down by kind of meat (give up red meat, then poultry, then fish is one way), numbers of meals a week including meat (eat normally this week, next week eat vegetarian for one or two more meals, and so on), days of the week (give up meat on Wednesday of next week, then Wednesday and Thursday the week after that, etc), or reduce the amount of meat you eat with each meal (take smaller and smaller portions until meat is only a flavoring agent, then give it up altogether).

But the best thing for you to do is probably think about your motivation for going meatless. That will hopefully help you get through the cravings. :-) Good luck!

  10. It's always hard to quit a life time habit-- instead of trying to give it up all at once, you should try to slowly wean yourself off of it. What really helped me (even though it's pretty gross), was trying to imagine what the meat's been through. It was a live animal, it was inside an animal, it was in a factory, it's been processed... you know, that sort of stuff. Also, you have to make sure to find substitutes, like tofu, and make sure to incorporate those, along with lots of fruits and veggies, into your daily diet.

Hope this helped a little :3
