Question:

Trying to get over a fear might sound stupid?

im absolutely terrified of flying and airplanes i never got d courage 2 get on one and im suppose to be flying from irland to australia on sunday to stay there 4 a year i just dont want to back out at the last minute is there anything i can get r do to calm me getting on 2 d airplane it will be a waste if i dont go i really want to go its only d flying part, i will be flying on my own aswell

  1. Flying is very safe and comfortable if you relax. Don't forget to breathe deeply, that will help. Do lots of stretching exercises before you go so you will be comfortable, and drink lots of water. Bring some relaxing music to listen to on headphones, or pleasant reading materials. If you get engrossed in a good read, you'll be back on the ground before you know it! Don't drink alcohol. If you've had panic attacks before, talk to your doctor and she may be able to prescribe something to help you relax. Good luck!


  2. there are over the counter medications, quamadream (?) not sure of the spelling, that you can take that will help calm you down and also help with motion sickness and there are other over the counter medications that will help calm you down such as benadryl plus some others.  i would try to look at it as an adventure of a life time, nothing ventured, nothing gained.  if i took the medications, i would take them about an hour before the flight and then if possible, once on the plane and allowed to have drinks, take one then.  i wish you all the luck and i wish i were in your shoes, i would love to go to ireland and australia both!!

  3. try not thinking about it ahead of time and listen to your favorite music. or read a good book and the night before go out to dinner with friends or something just have fun and just don't ever think about it. surround yourself with plenty of other things to think about.
