Hello, I am trying to play music from my laptop through my receiver. I bought RCA cables and have the red and white connectly correctly into the 'CD' input on the receiver. The other end is plugged into the headphone jack on the laptop. I hear no sound at all and only a dull hum from my speakers. I notice when I unplug powered things near it, the hum gets softer or louder.. Help!!

  1. If the proper input on the receiver is selected, and the volume on the laptop is turned up, then I would verify that the cable you are using is not damaged.  Double check to make sure that you are actually plugged into the input of the receiver as well.  You might also try using another available input.

  2. If you put headphones, can you hear sound from the laptop?

If yes, make sure you select CD input from the front control of the receiver.

  3. have u tried using it on the aux input or on dvd. it worked for me. ps. .don't forget to set both units volume to low first. pss.. on my last amp i had to use a ground wire from my laptop to the amp to stop the hummm.  hope it works for u.
