  1. If he broke his arm at work he can get workmans compensation but he won't be able to get unemployment since he's not available for work.

  2. if it happened on the job breaking this arm workers comp will cover if not go the unemployment office they will get you going. if not if your involved in church they have emergency money for members of the church and will help most of the time!

  3. if he got hurt at the job he may be eligible for work men's comp

  4. Well are you gonna help him our are you gonna let him lose money.

    Your choice.

  5. shouldnt his work be paying him for the time off?

  6. He could probrably get unemployment to pay his bills while he recovers.

  7. What country does he live in? YA isn't just for Americans you know.

  8. Ahh wanting to shut the barn door after the horse ran out.  My wife broke her arm clean through back in April.  Then after putting a plate in it, she got a spiral fracture above the original break.  She was out of work for 13 weeks.  She ALMOST decided to drop her Temp Disability insurance.  She got 60% while she was out.

Now, if he broke it at work, he may be eligible for workman's comp.  Otherwise he's up a creek without a paddle.

Have him check with the HR folks at work.  They may be able to point him in the right direction.  Otherwise, have him contact his creditors and explain the situation.

    Good luck.

  9. I wor construction and have seen this happen before.

    1. He CAN claim unemployment, which isn't much but it'll help.

    2. There are companies out there that specialize in this. They basically loan you the money and you pay them back later.

    3. Thirdly, it is VERY important that your son installs Disability Income Insurance for himself once he recovers. The most lucrative and dependable asset that your son has is his ability to work. I work as a Financial Adviser with Northwestern Mutual Financial Network, and we specialize in both Life and Disability Insurance. I'd love to look at your son's case when he recovers so that we can prevent him being in this spot again. People don't even realize how cheap it is to have a great Disability policy.

  10. If your son broke his arm AT work, he should be getting Workman's compensation! Workman's comp is usually 80% of his normal pay, but may vary from state to state.

If he broke his arm outside of work, he will have a harder time finding some form of financial aid. I would suggest he calls the Social Security Administration and see if he is eligible for short term disability payments.

His best bet however would be to talk to his boss and see if there is anything he can do that would only take the use of one arm.
