I think butterflies would be nice.

you can get some really nice silk ones and put them anywhere.

you can get butterfly clips, broaches, napkin rings, ones on candles, and so on.

it would be very easy to find.

They represent freedom, love, change, beauty, rebirth, coming out, bi-lateral symmetry as well as individuality.

It is said that butterflies represent an omen of marriage. If you dream of them it is said that they represent the best quality of yourself or a loved one.

They get their nourishment from seeking out the nectar of beautiful flowers.

Try this website ... I love that it refers to the caterpillar as an earth bound soul transforming into a butterfly or an airborne soul.

Just a spring or summer theme (whatever time of year its at) with your colors keeps it open for so many ideas on decor, food, and location

A butterfly theme is definitely nice, but it is also quite common. The same can be said for hearts and roses. However, the key is in how unique you define the style of the wedding. For example, roses are my favorite so I would play it up with your favorite roses and even intertwine the concept with a sub-theme such as an Italian Tuscan theme. Another great idea is to have a heart's theme but use a sub-theme such as a Shakespearean theme.

Why not mesh themes? Butterflies and Roses would be gorgeous! Like a romantic garden theme. Your floral arrangements can include the roses with accents of butterflies.  And incorporate hearts for favors.

For my wedding, I had more than one theme.

The Bridal Shower was an All White Party where the bridal party wore all white. The decor was silver and apple red.

The bachelorette party was Moulin Rouge and we all wore masks and coursets.

The Wedding was yellow roses (a sentimental thing with me and my late father) and white.

The Reception was Mardi Gras with masks and beads.

This is the biggest day of your life and you should have all you want. And whether its a L*****n wedding or not, the both of you should have a day to remember and look back on. I love your color scheme ideas and think you can pull off a Romantic Garden theme with them.

I incorporated both hearts and roses in my wedding.  The roses would be pretty because you could order them in lilac.  Either way, the wedding sounds beautiful.

i think the roses look better with the white lilacs.. and you could have like the aisle have rose petals everywhere.. that would look nice.... i mean butterflies.. how would you be incorporating that in your wedding? and hearts are so cliche
