Question:

Trying to plan for going back to college, help

I attended a community college for only like a semester, this was maybe 6 years ago. I don't know if any of that will hurt or help me or how to find out. But, my real question is about financial aid. There's so many loose ends that I usually just put it off.

I'm now wanting to attend a regular state university where I happen to work. I'm thinking about starting in the spring semester and the admission due date is Oct 15.

So, what do I do first? The fafsa website, or should I go speak with someone at the admission office or what? If I use the fafsa website, can I find out how much I qualify for and then follow through with the actual school admission?

Sorry for so much text, I tried to break it up some. Thanks for reading!

  1. Basically the government's amount is a constant and the university's is the one that changes and they can always help you decide what they can give (of course after you've completed the FAFSA, but they may know if you have to do the CSS or another profile and other scholarships and grants the school offers). So make sure to finish up the FAFSA before the deadline and the Financial Aid department will get the results and be better equipped to help you.
