Trying to pollinate my pumpkins?

Question

I'm growing pumpkins, I plan on hand pollinating them, My first female flower never opened. What is the reason it didn't? What can I do if they don't open?

never had to worry about it.  I just plant my seeds and harvest my pumpkins in the fall!
