Question:

Trying to put kids dvd players through the car stereo for better sound - problems...?

seemed simple enough - bought an iso lead online with 3.5 jack, plugged the blue iso into the empty cd changer socket at the back of the head unit -clarion pu 2471d, other end into the headphne socket of the dvd -

zilch.

No recognition of anything being plugged in. all switched on etc.

searching further I believe i may need an interface adapter, about £60, or a much cheaper fm modulator transmitter to recieve the dvd through the radio.

Any advice/insight from someone who knows on these options? - If it's just down to this I probably wont bother.

also why do they make the lead I fisrt bought, if the head units wont accept 'standard' audio input. ie without the adapter. I see if I'd bought a cd changer I'd need an adapter anyway.

Any advice/info would be appreciated - I've looked into it so much I'm demented.

  1. Fm transmitter is the way to go. cuts out all the hassle. you can get battery operated ones for an ipod for under 20. or one for a cd changer that actually runs off the car battery.

  2. get an FM transmitter instead, They arent great but better than the tinny sound of a little dvd player.
